Close

Once you have successfully completed your project deliverables many people consider the project finished. However, there are many tasks that need to be performed to fully close out a project, such as paying and finalizing contracts, returning equipment, and transferring staff to other projects, just to name a few, all to bring a project to a proper conclusion.

Project closure includes the following key elements:

bullet

Obtain and document final stakeholder approvals on all project deliverables. Hold project reviews with internal and external team members.

bullet

Close or transfer any open contracts, issues, defects, action items, tasks, and risks to other projects/people. Transfer resources to other projects or functional areas

bullet

Finalize expense reporting, project accounting, and submit final bills

bullet

Create and submit the project closure report, and document all lessons learned

bullet Reallocate resources to other projects
